The life of Admiral Edward Pellew, 1st Viscount Exmouth (1757-1833), a British naval officer who fought during the American Revolution (when he was taken prisoner at Saratoga), the French Revolutionary wars, and the Napoleonic wars. He is familiar to fans of C. S. Forester's Captain Horation Hornblower series.
