Board edges are bevelled. Dark brown endpapers. First Edition. BAL 7253 (printing no. 2) with "S.T.K." on p. 136, later corrected to "T.S.K." A former owner embellished the front endpapers with clippings of 4 poems, including The Phantom Army by Bret Harte. There are 2 more poems attached to either side of a blank leaf preceding the back endpapers, including The Humors of Misconception by Harte. Attached to the back free endpaper is a clipping about the death of Bret Harte. In Good+ Condition: ends of spine are frayed with some loss; back joint starting to separate at head of spine; edges rubbed; occasional light soiling; solid. Good +. Item #006946
