Inscribed on front free endpaper: "Ellen Lewinhaupt. June 1921." Ellen Bayard (1869-1932), a member of the prominent Bayard family of Delaware and Pennsylvania, married Count Reinhold Abraham Lewenhaupt in 1891. He died later that year and she later married Carl Magnus Hagren. With 7 newspaper clippings about Shaw from 1926-1931, kept in the book, including a photograph of Shaw, Lady Astor, Charlie Chaplin, and Amy Johnson, "the Aviatrix." Back to Methuselah consists of a 103-page Preface, long even by the standards of Shaw, who liked a lengthy introduction, and five related plays. In Very Good- Condition: spine is sunned; corners are rubbed; head of spine starting to fray; front endpapers have shadows where the clippings were held; front hinge starting; pages are clean and tight.
