Bound in plain grey paper wrapper with "Cheron" written in ink on the spine. In Near Fine Condition: edges of wrapper are chipped; faint foxing throughout; first few pages have crease in lower section; pages are clean and tight. The author served in the Legislative Assembly in 1791 and was imprisoned during the revolutionary regime because of his moderate stance. Freed after 9 Thermidor, he was elected to the Council of 500 in 1798 but refused to perform the functions demanded. He retired and devoted himself to writing and translating, until named a prefect of Vienna under Napoleon in 1805. A very scarce French revolutionary and Napoleanic period work from the French theater. Near Fine. Item #000078
