This is volume three of the works of French historian Pierre-Edouard Lemontey (1762-1826). This volume contains biographical essays about various figures, including Andre Morellet (1727-1819), French economist and writer; Vicq d'Azyr (1748-1794), general secretary of the Societe royale de medecine; Marguerite de Valois (1553-1615), or Queen Margot, Queen of France and Navarre; French actresses Adrienne Lecouvreur (1692-1730) and Claire-Josèphe Léris (1723-1803), called Mademoiselle Clairon; and French philosopher Claude Adrien Helvétius (1715-1771). In Good Condition: some leather lacking at ends of spine; edges rubbed; small section of paper lacking along fore-edge of pp. 65-66, without loss of text; upper corner lacking from last leaf of text (table of contents), following blank leaf, and rear free endpaper, with small loss of text from table of contents; damage to upper corner of pp. 395-96 without loss of text; scattered foxing. Pages are otherwise clean and tight. A very scarce work by a late 18th-century and early 19th-century French writer. Good. Item #000302
