Reddish-brown cloth over boards. All page edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Front fixed endpaper bears the bookplate of the Berkshire Athenaeum, stamped "Withdrawn." Back fly leaf also bears withdrawn stamp. This is a translation from the German of an important work on art history. It was issued in two volumes, with the illustrations in one and the text in the other. This is the text volume only.
