Philadelphia, Pa. Griffith & Simon, 1841. Hardcover. Title continued: "An Alphabetical Table of All the Names in the Old and New Testaments, With Their Significations; Tables of Scripture Weights, Measures, and Coins, &c." Stereotype Edition. 4, 6, 5-570, 111 p.: frontispiece; 29 cm. Contemporary full calf. The frontispiece is a wood engraving by Alexander Anderson of Moses found in the bulrushes. No date of publication. The publisher's address is given as 188 N. 3rd St. Griffith & Simon published from 1841 to 1849 and are known to have used this address in 1842. By 1846 they were using 144 N. 3rd St., suggesting that this was published between 1841 and 1845. A very scarce, albeit incomplete, Bible from the first half of the 19th century by a lesser known Philadelphia publisher. In Poor Condition: both boards are detached and leather over spine is lacking; everything after the Apocrypha, that is the entire New Testament, is lacking (remaining text block is solid); foxing throughout.
