Front wrapper printed within a decorative border. Inside of front wrapper and both sides of back wrapper contain publisher's advertisements. Front wrapper and title page state: "Printed from the author's Manuscript and advanced Proofsheets, purchased by us from Mrs. Henry Wood, and issued here in advance of the publication of the work in Europe." First American edition, which, according to this statement, preceded the first English edition by Bradbury & Evans. Page 19 contains publisher's advertisements. In Very Good Condition: wrapper starting to separate from both ends of spine; slight loss of paper at tail of spine; shadow on title page from cover formerly protecting wrapper; light soiling in margins; otherwise pages are clean and tight.
