Added engraved series title page with vignette captioned: "United we stand, divided we fail." 20-page publisher's catalog follows text. Inscriptions on the front endpapers indicate that George W. Burke received this as a premium in a history class at Villanova College in 1854. At the head of the series title page is inscribed: Robert J. Madden, Harrisburg. The very scarce first edition of this antebellum history of Kentucky.
