Translation of Gargantua et Pantagruel. Bookseller's label on both back fixed endpapers for Chas. E. Lauriat Co., Boston. Gift inscription on vol. 1 front free endpaper: "J. Earl Quigley from S.B. Sadler 1913." Carlisle, Pa., resident Sylvester B. Sadler (1876-1931) served on the state supreme court from 1920 to 1931. J. Earl Quigley was a court stenographer in Carlisle who became deputy prothonotary of the state. In Very Good- Condition: covers are lightly soiled; edges rubbed; ends of spine slightly frayed; one vertical crease in each front board; a shadow on each half title page from clipping or other paper no longer present; otherwise, pages and plates are clean and bright.
