Bookplate of former owner Andrew M. Sherling on each front fixed endpaper. Errors in pagination: vol. 1 p. 332 mispaginated 322; vol. 2 p. 277 mispaginated 377. Translated from the French of the Comte de Buffon. Directions for placing the plates at end of vol. 5. Contents: vols. 1-3 Birds -- vol. 4 Fish -- vol. 5 Reptiles and insects.
