The printer, Peter Hardt, was active as a printer in both English and German in York, Pa., in the late 1810s and was briefly the owner of the York Recorder (1818-1819). Illustrating the evolution in papermaking at this time, in printing this book he was using paper from multiple sources, some signatures printed on laid paper and others on wove. A scarce and interesting example of printing in York, Pa. in the early 19th century. In Very Good+ Condition: boards are very rubbed and slightly soiled; ink marks on title page; creasing to some upper page corners; pages are browning, but clean and tight. Very Good +. Item #002632
