Former owner's name on front free endpaper: "Saml. Bettle, Jr." Samuel Bettle, Jr., (1809-1880) was a Quaker minister and a manager of the Friends' Asylum for the Relief of Persons Deprived of the Use of Their Reason (now Friends' Hospital) from 1839 to 1879. In Good+ Condition: leather is rubbed with loss at ends of spine; front joint separating; scrape on lower part of front board; small ink stains on both boards; pages are clean and solid. Very scarce.
