Avacado Lodge, Sea Girt, N.J. [Avacado Lodge calling cards?]

Philadelphia: John Wanamaker, 1920. 2 cards, 10 x 6.5 cm. Two different designs. "John Wanamaker, Philada." embossed in small letters along lower edge. Avocado Lodge was a summer house built in Sea Girt, N.J., by Philadelphia Quaker Elliston P. Morris. After his death in 1914, his daughter Elizabeth Canby Morris inherited Avocado, which was sold in 1947 after her death. These two cards, on which the name of the house has been misspelled Avacado, were possibly produced by John Wanamaker as samples, illustrating two different designs. Undated, but possibly around 1920. In Good/Very Good Condition: one card is slightly soiled; the other card is more heavily soiled, with a small green stain impacting part of the printing; no writing or tears on either card. Good +.
