Xenophon's biography of Cyrus the Great, known as the Cyropaedia, influenced the genre known as mirrors of princes, in which writers of the late medieval period in Europe sought to provide examples of exemplary behavior as a model for young or future rulers. Lacking pp. 681-88; otherwise in Very Good- Condition: leather is rubbed; back joint separated from tail for 3 cm.; lacking free endpapers; tear near the gutter of both a4 and a5, without loss; title page soiled and creased; a few pencilled and ink marginal notations.
