The illustrator, Will Vawter, grew up in Greenfield, Ind., where he was close to the author, James Whitcomb Riley. Vawter illustrated 11 volumes of Rile's poetry, sometimes using local residents as models. This volume contains 27 poems about farm life, including When the Frost is on the Punkin; Thoughts fer the Discuraged Farmer; and Wortermelon Time.
