Reading, Pa. Reading Weekly Eagle, 1889. 3 receipts for subscriptions to the Reading Weekly Eagle, paid for by Allen Kreibel. A one-year subscription was $2. The 1889 receipt is stamped "Geo. L. Kleinginna" for the publisher, Jesse G. Hawley. George L. Kleinginna (b. 1872) grew up in Berks Co., where he was living when he worked for the newspaper. He later taught and was one of the organizers of the National Text Book Co., Reading, Pa., and organized the Berks Conty Teachers' Association. The other two receipts were signed by D.M. Blatt. The Reading Weekly Eagle was published from 1877 to 1926. In 1877 the name had been changed from the Gazette and Democrat. The 1889 and 1897 receipts give the full name as the Reading Weekly Eagle and Gazette and Democrat. In Very Good+ Condition: lightly folded in the middle; the 1892 receipt is faintly soiled.
