The plates are numbered and state "Hélio Léon Marotte, Paris," indicating that they were produced by the heliotype, or collotype, process, which produces both beautiful and extremely detailed images. Each caption describes the piece of furniture and gives its location at the time, in many cases in personal collections. Includes chimney furniture, beds, wardrobes (one by Joseph Longueville), dressers, chairs, tables, buffets, clocks, and desks, and many room arrangements. Bookseller's label on inside of the front section of the portfolio: W.M. Helburn, New York. In Very Good+ Condition: portfolio is slightly soiled; cloth is bright; ties are intact; foxing along fore-edge of plate 40; otherwise text and plates are clean and bright.
