Original calf with gilt-stamped spine title and year with ornate gilt-stamped decoration; each board has gilt-stamped center illustration within gilt floral decoration and gilt-ruled borders. All page edges gilt. Yellow endpapers. Each engraved title page has title: The Christian Diadem: A Family Keepsake. Former owner's inscription on front free endpaper: "Peter P. Voorhees, South Amboy, N.J." Peter P. Voorhees (1816-1872) helped to establish St. Peter's Episcopal Church in South Amboy, N.J. Foxon, 123. The plates include portraits of Louis Kossuth, Henry Ward Beecher, James Adams, and Daniel Sharp, and views of Perth Amboy Seminary and Yale College. Contents include: poems by Mary S. Perry (The Departed Year; Lines suggested by the Death of an Infant) -- Reminiscences of Greece and Asia Minor by Enoch Cobb Wines -- poems by Lydia H.
