New York: G. Schirmer, 1924. Hardcover. xii, 678 p.: music; 31 cm. Brown cloth with green spine and cover titles. Includes a title index. Table of Contents lists each piece under the motion picture mood for which it is intended (ex., under Aeroplane are two pieces by Felix Mendelssohn). Each page also has the subject guide running along the fore-edge for quick access to music appropriate for moods and events, ranging from Aeroplane to Fire-fighting to Passion to Western. Inscribed on front free endpaper: "Harry W. MacMillan, Jr., played first in public, entire last showing of "Ham and Eggs at the Front" at Oxford Theatre, Burholme, Philadelphia. July 6th, 1928." His stamp "H.W. MacMillan" appears on the endpapers the throughout the book. Harry W. MacMillan was only 17 when he debuted at the Oxford Theatre in Philadelphia. He went on to be the organist at a Baptist Church in Philadelphia and was the organist of the 1948 Republican Convention in Philadelphia. This volume was heavily used, presumably by MacMillan. Some leaves have been removed in order to be inserted in another location, in some cases having had the edges trimmed, in others the untrimmed edges are creased and chipped; some leaves were lost. Extremely scarce item from the era of silent movies (this is the original, not the modern reprint). Lacking 46 pages (pp. 47-50, 63-70, 149-50, 193-196, 215-218, 231-234, 337-340, 485-496, 587-592, and 671-674); otherwise in Good Condition: cover slightly soiled; lacking part of pp. 243-44; occasional tears without loss; creasing and chipping of edges of some leaves.
