Sample gilt-stamped spine title in leather attached inside front cover. Green floral fixed endpapers. Copyrighted by John S. Draper, 1887. Includes complete table of contents and list of illustrations, and 48 pages of text and illustration. Final page describes the book, to be available by subscription in cloth and half or full "Seal Russia." Illustrated by True W. Williams (1839-1897), a popular American illustrator best known for his illusrations of the work of Mark Twain. Two leaves lined in red, presumably the subscription pages, have been torn out following the text. In Fair+ Condition (as is typical of saleman's samples): rubbed; ends of spine and corners are frayed; minor loss at tail of spine; loss of much of the gilt on the front cover; possibly lacking free endpapers (if there were any); text block is largely detached from binding; light soiling throughout.
