The lovely bamboo drawings are signed F.W.G. for Frederick W. Gookin (1853-1936), the Chicago banker, calligrapher, and designer. About two years prior to the publication of this yearbook, he had left banking, and later he became the first curator of the Clarence S. Buckingham Collection of Japanese prints at the Art Institute of Chicago. He served as the Chicago Literary Club's secretary and treasurer from 1880 to 1920. The yearbook contains the schedule of talks for the 1905-1906 year, as well as the bylaws, the club's officers since founding, and current and former members. In Very Good Condition: wrapper slightly soiled; fore-edge of front wrapper chipped; light crease in front wrapper and first few pages; pages are clean and bright. Very Good. Item #003837
