Contemporary beige cloth spine; leather spine labels with gilt-tooled title and volume number. Mottled brown paper over boards. All page edges orange-brown. "Stérótype D'Herhan." Former owner's name written on half title of each volume: Edgar W. Corner. This was probably the Edgar W. Corner of Baltimore, Md., who was a student at Washington College in 1851 and went on to be a successful rice and sugar importer. He died in New York City in 1878, apparently of alcohol poisoning. In Very Good Condition: edges are rubbed; spines are lightly soiled; title page of vol. 1 stained; pages are lightly browning, but clean and tight. Very Good. Item #003856
