This is one of a limited edition of 250 copies printed at the Southworth Press in March 1929; typography by David Silve. The author, Edward Coppée Thurston (1874-1926), was a mining engineer who worked in South Africa, Rhodesia, Mexico, China, and the United States before his health forced his retirement to Mariposa Ranch in southern California in 1921. This book is drawn from his observations of nature on and near the ranch, particularly of birds and butterflies. In Very Good Condition: edges and corners are rubbed; head of spine starting to fray; clean and tight. Very Good. Item #004005
