Black leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title "Crabbe's Poems." Gilt-tooled decoration in remaining compartments. Gilt rolled border on each board and gilt rolled decoration in each board edge and turn-in. Pink, black, and blue marbled endpapers. All page edges yellow. Final 6 pages blank. Possibly the first American edition; the priority of the three editions has not been established. Much less common than the Philadelphia Bradford & Inskeep edition.
