Black leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title "Crabbe's Poems." Gilt-tooled decoration in remaining compartments. Gilt rolled border on each board and gilt rolled decoration in each board edge and turn-in. Pink, black, and blue marbled endpapers. All page edges yellow. Final 6 pages blank. Contents: The Village -- The Parish Register -- The Library -- The Newspaper -- The Birth of Flattery -- Reflections -- Sir Eustace Grey -- The Hall of Justice -- Woman! Possibly the first American edition; the priority of the three editions has not been established. Much less common than the Philadelphia Bradford & Inskeep edition. In Very Good Condition: edges rubbed; corners bumped; upper corner of title page cut out, removing name of former owner; scattered light foxing; otherwise, clean and tight. Very Good. Item #004009
