Ralph Redway, Frank Richards, Owen Conquest, and Martin Clifford were pseudonyms used by the publisher, most notably by Charles Hamilton (1876-1961), the most prolific writer of boys' fiction (according to Guinness). Ralph Redway was used for westerns featuring the Rio Kid; Frank Richards for stories set at Greyfriar School in Kent; Owen Conquest for stories set at Rookwood School and Benbow Floating School; and Martin Clifford for stories set at St. James College in Sussex (St. Jim's).
