March 23, 1080. Printed by order of the house of representatives." Early American Imprints, Second series (Shaw & Shoemaker), 16411. James Monroe served as U.S. Ambassador to England from 1803 to 1808, and James Madison served as U.S. Secretary of State from 1801 to 1809. In this letter, Monroe is responding to Madison's previous communications relative to the impressment of Americans by the British navy in general and the Monroe-Pinkney Treaty in particular. In Good Condition: disbound; first leaf partially detached, and last leaf detached but present; pages are lightly browning but otherwise clean and tight. Good. Item #004243
