The turnpike established in 1843 ran from the Buckingham meetinghouse in Bucks County, Pa., by Yardley's mill to Doylestown, taking over the former Doylestown and Danborough turnpike road company. Material related to American turnpike companies from the first half of the 19th century is scarce.
