Mantes, France: Granger-Courel, 1886. 1 trade card 8 x 12 cm. Chromolithographed illustration of a small person (an elf?) lying on a large scroll, whittling a quill; the background is gilt and green with pink flowers. Granger-Courel was a silk dyeing and cleaning business located in Mantes, France. The text (entirely French) on the reverse describes their business: they specalized in furniture dyeing; had a patent for the finishing of ready-made clothing; and used the new Parisian dry and odor-free cleaning. Caption along the edge of the scroll: "Epitre de Polichinel, rival d'Arlequin a Colombine." Undated. Granger-Courel was in business from 1886 or earlier to 1907 or later. Scarce. In Very Good Condition: illustration is bright and clean; text side is slightly darkened, but otherwise clean and intact. Very Good. Item #004610
