The title page does not state that Boosey is the sole American agent, as some editions do; stamped at the lower edge of the title page: "G. Schirmer, New York." "3.50" stamped in upper right-hand corner of title page. Former owner inscription on blank leaf preceding title page: "Harry J. Schools 1904." Attached to the front endpapers are two programs from performances of Giroflé-Girofla in 1914 and 1915 by St. John's Choir in Lebanon, Pa. Harry J. Schools, a lawyer in Lebanon, Pa., was the director and pianist; the performances were accompanied by Keim's Orchestra. No date of publication; Boosey & Co. in New York was established in 1892. This edition must have appeared between 1892 and 1904 when it was purchased. Giroflé-Girofla by Charles Lecocq (1832-1918) was first performed in Brussels in 1874; the English version was first performed in London later the same year. Scarce.
