This was the Art Nouveau-style binding used for the publisher's Leisure Hour Series. Endpapers have publisher's advertisements in red, including the Leisure Hour Series, dated Oct. 1887. On each front free endpaper a small bookseller's label for Clarke & Carruth, Boston. Advertisement for other novels by the author on page facing title page. At head of title: Leasure Hour Series No. 205. Former owner's inscription at head of title page in each volume: "1887 M.U. Marshall." "Author's Edition" -- title page verso.
