The diary portion of this small book contains ruled pages with one week per page, as well as some memoranda pages. The book also contains census information from the 1910 U.S. census, postage and other business information; the center pages contain color maps of the United States, as well as the east coast of China and the Philippines, Canada, and the Panama Canal and the canal zone. Owned by John W. Hemig (1891-1978) at that time of 1813 Taylor St. and then 870 N. Taylor St., Philadelphia. On the front free endpaper verso he wrote his draft number. Hemig recorded his hours of work and price of gas, as well as visiting his family in Reading, Pa.; the death of Buffalo Bill; the death of his father; the declaration of war against Germany. On June 5 he placed a patriotic sticker and wrote "Must Redgister for War" but on July 4, "Examined for Army I did not Pass." In Good+ Condition: cover is soiled; starting to split over back joint.
