Engraved armorial? bookplate on front fixed endpaper featuring a seated woman with a strange crown, holding an caduceus with a sailing ship in the background. Below the image the bookplate includes "No." on the left and "Yards" on the right. This is filled in by hand to read: "No. 5 -- 16 Yards." Contents: The Life of Washington --The Life of La Fayette -- The Life of Jackson -- The Life of Wellington. Very scarce. In Good Condition: boards are lightly stained; back board warped at upped edge; lacking upper corner of front free endpaper; small dampstain along upper page edges for first few leaves; larger dampstain in upper part of pages for last quarter of book; light foxing throughout; otherwise, clean and tight.
