Rowe (1909-1984) was a lawyer who served as secretary to Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, administrative assistant to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and on the Hoover Commission (the Commission for the Reorganization of the Executive Branch of Government). The author, Piaras Beaslai (1881-1965), was a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and Dail Eireann. In Very Good Condition: lacking one corner and edge of label on vol. 2, without loss of print; head of spine on both volumes starting to fray; stain on front cover of vol. 2; pages and plates are clean and tight.
