Sir Leslie Ward (1851-1922), English caricaturist and portrait painter, signed his works 'Spy.' After serving in the British army, Major General Sir Reginald Arthur James Talbot (1841-1929) represented Stafford in Parliament from 1869 to 1874. Returning to the army, he fought in the Anglo-Zulu War and took part in the unsuccessful Nile Expedition to relieve General Gordon in Khartoum. In 1899 he became General Officer Commanding the British troops in Egypt. He became Governor of Victoria, Australia, in 1904.
