Sir Leslie Ward (1851-1922), English caricaturist and portrait painter, signed his works 'Spy.' Major General Lord Edward Wilfrid Gleichen (1863-1937) joined the Grenadier Guards in 1881, serving in the Sudan and in the 2nd Boer War before becoming military attache first to Germany and later to the United States.
