Red cloth with gilt-stamped spine and cover title: Catalogue of the Collection of Paintings of Peter A. Schemm. Top page edges gilt. "Gallery Schemm" -- at head of title page. Each plate accompanied by leaf with descriptive letterpress in red, not included in pagination. Includes index by artist. Page preceding frontispiece has gift inscription from Schemm to Jacob Rich, with a tipped-in black-and-white photograph of Schemm sitting at a piano in his art gallery, with the painting in the frontispiece hanging above the piano. Peter A. Schemm (1852-1909) was a brewer in Philadelphia and built a gallery to exhibit his collection at 25th and Poplar streets. He issued catalogs of his art collection in 1898 and 1907, also.
