London: Printed at the Caxton Press by Henry Fisher, 1820. Hardcover. 480 p., added engraved title page and 7 leaves of plates; 21 cm. Contemporary half calf with four spine compartments between gilt rules; gilt-tooled title "Earl of Moreland" in second compartment; gilt-tooled flowers in remaining compartments. Marbled paper over boards. Engraved tail-piece. "To the reader" signed: J.W. [John Wesley] Bristol, March 4, 1780. The plates are from drawings by William Marshall Craig (1765-1834). The Fool of Quality by the Irish writer Henry Brooke (1703-1783) was published in five volumes from 1765 to 1770. In 1780 a much-abridged edition was published by John Wesley (1703-1791), the Anglican theologian. No date of publication; Henry Fisher published as a sole proprietor from 1818 to 1825, when his son became a partner and the name changed to Fisher, Son & Co. In Good Conditon: rubbed with minor loss at ends of spine; added engraved title page, title page, and "To the Reader" (pp. [1-4]) are detached but present; light soiling and foxing; closed 3-cm. tear from lower edge of one plate, not impacting image; plates have left shadows and foxing on adjacent pages; otherwise, clean and solid.
