Spines and front boards have black-stamped decoration including a different coat-of-arms; back board have blind-stamped decoration mirroring the front boards without the initials. "New and Revised Edition"--on spines. Boards have beveled edges. Dark brown endpapers. Each front fixed endpaper bears a bookplate reading "Shapleigh" with a black-and-white photo of a rural scene. Blank leaf following front endpapers in each volume inscribed by former owner: "Adelaide Shapleigh Sept. 1898."
