Jean-Baptiste-Charles Asselin (1746-1826) was a French physician who worked at the Hotel-Dieu of Paris for many years. The author, Louis Benoit Guersent (1777-1848), was a French botanist and physician who led the l'Hôpital des Enfans Malades in Paris for 30 years.
