Modern binding: beige paper over spine and grey paper over boards with printed paper label on spine "A Treatise on Tetanus." First American Edition. Disbound from a volume stamped "Withdrawn from A.P.S." on a preliminary blank page and bearing an inscription indicating that it had been given to the American Philosophical Society by Dr. John Bell. John Bell (1796-1872) received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1817. He practiced medicine in Philadelphia, lectured at the Philadelphia Medical Institute, and was a member of the American Philosophical Society. The author, Thomas Blizard Curling (1811-1888), was an English surgeon. In Fine Condition: clean and tight. Very scarce. Fine. Item #005906
