Contemporary half calf with marbled paper over boards. Leather spine labels with gilt-tooled title "Museum of Foreign Literature" and volume information. Former owner's name at head of three title pages: Geo. Metzger. Consists of issues for Jan., Feb., March, and April 1843 of this short-lived magazine formed by Eliakim Littell (1797-1870) when he combined his The Museum of Foreign Literature, Science, and Art with the American Eclectic. One year later he sold it to Leavitt, Trow and Co., who changed name to Eclectic Magazine. In Fair+ Condition: both boards are detached but present; lacking some leather from spine; front free endpaper is detached but present; lacking plate from March issue?; pp. 287-88 detached but present with soiling along fore-edge and lower edge; text block is otherwise solid; foxing; otherwise, clean.
