The Roxborough Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1932 by Stanley H. Cauffman (1881-1947), a cellist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, who conducted the Roxborough Symphony Orchestra from 1932 to 1935. The conductor of this program was Leonard DeMaria. It featured soprano Florence M. Barr. With an insert explaining that the first concert of the 11th season had been delayed because of the impact of the war on players' availability, and gas rationing, which made it difficult for players to transport larger instruments.
