At the head of the Preface Rhice Nicholas also wrote that he purchased the book in 1839. Short handwritten index on back free endpaper. Felcone, New Jersey Books, 641. Rhice Nicholas was a justice in Morris County, N.J., in the 1830s. The section on slaves discusses the prohibition of the slave trade in New Jersey as well as other laws relating to slaves and that state, with the form to be used for manumission.
