Handwritten letter to NYC merchant John Thurman, Jr.

London: 1771. Handwritten letter, dated Jan. 1, 1771, to John Thurman, Jr., from Richard Clay, Paul Agutter, William Harper & Nevil Noble, merchants in London. John Thurman, Jr. (1730-1809) opened a dry good store in New York City in 1765 and went on to become a very successful merchant. The letter discusses the beginning of their mercantile relationship and refers to goods being shipped on the Duchess of Gordon under Capt. Winn. In Good Condition: formerly folded hortizontally and vertically; separated along the horitzontal fold; exterior of the letter when folded is lightly soiled and creased; otherwise, clean and solid.
