1821. 1 sheet folded to create 4 pages, with the letter, dated June 7, 1821, Forks of Brandywine, written on 3 pages and the address and partial wax seal on the 4th. John N. C. Grier (1792-1880) succeeded his father, Nathan Grier, as pastor of the Presbyterian Church at the Forks of the Brandywine, Chester Co., Pa., after his father's death in 1814. The recipient was probably Martha Grier Jamison (1745-1832). Grier refers to her "advanced age," implies that they are related ("near connexions"), and mentions her sister, Mrs. Ralston. In Very Good- Condition: old folds; exterior when folded is darkened and lightly soiled; small separations at folds without loss of text; one chip out of an edge, without loss of text; solid.
