1847. 1 stipple engraving 11.2 x 8.7 mm. mounted on card 26 x 16 cm. Printed label on back: "Lieut. Gen. Sir Ralph Abercromby, K. B." After the portrait by John Hoppner; engraver not given but probably H. D. Cook. No date of publication but H. D. Cook's engraving after the portrait by Hoppner was published in 1847. Sir Ralph Abercromy (1734-1801) was a Scottish politician and soldier. In March 1801 he commanded the British in their defeat of the French in the Battle of Alexandria. He died a week later of a wound suffered in the battle. In Very Good Condition: card backing is slightly soiled; engraving is clean and crisp. Very Good. Item #006806
