Oley, Pa. Jared Hoch, 1884. 1 card (55x 88 mm.) printed on one side with decorative border. In 1870 Jared Hoch (1825-1909) was one of the commissioners of the Friedensburg Turnpike Road Company in Berks County. Here he offers himself as a candidate for county commissioner of Berks County, Pa., at the Democratic Nominating Convention, having been next to highest in the two former conventions. It is unknown whether he was the Democratic candidate, but he was not one of the three men who began serving three-year terms in 1885. Ephemera from 19th-century local political campaigns is scarce.
