Attached to front fixed endpaper is newspaper illustration of a Civil War soldiers' monument. The author's dedication to the soldiers on both sides of the Civil War concludes "with the earnest hope that no occasion may ever again arise in which it shall seem necessary for one American citizen to seek to shed the gore of another American citizen." A humorous account of one recruit's experience during the Civil War by the author of Peck's Bad Boy. In Good Condition: slightly cocked; white is lacking from spine title; cover is soiled; edges rubbed; front free endpaper detached but present; pages are brown and somewhat brittle; otherwise, clean and solid.
