1892. 1 leaf; 21 cm. Ruled paper with stamp at head: "B. W. McCracken, Dealer in Groceries, Provisions, Flour, Feed, Nations &c. Mahaffey, Pa." Embossed stamp in upper left-hand corner: "Congress." Handwritten note, dated July 12, 1892, to A. E. Patton cashier, enclosing checks from Thomas Keck and J. D. Hepburn. Blake W. McCracken (1857-1950) started his grocery in 1889; he also served in various local offices: assessor, tax collector, town council, and justice of the peace. He was postmaster of Mahaffey, Pa., from 1914 to 1922. Alexander Ennis Patton (1852-1904) was the cashier of the First National Bank of Curwensville, Pa. In Fine Condition: clean and intact. Fine.
